Chocolate Malteser Cake

Birthday cake isn't a usual occurrence in our house. Birthdays tend to involve choosing a restaurant and heading out.
So when I came across this recipe coming up to a friend's birthday I just had to attempt my first birthday cake.

My attempt isn't quite as pretty and the sponge could do with being slightly lighter but it went done fairly well. Cake is cake after all.

Chocolate Icing

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm that is certainly making me hungry :P a love a good slice of chocolate cake!

What is malted milk though? I dont think I've ever seen it in the shop before! What could you substitute it for if needs be? :)

I have the same question too...what is malted milk and if there is any replacements for it? The cake looks delightfully happy:D

That looks so so good! But as with the above comments, what is malted milk?!

Malted milk is the Horlicks stuff. It is similar to drinking chocolate except milk flavour... Absolutely disgusting in my opinion as a drink though.

It'd be in the coffee/drinking chocolate aisle. It's apparently quite healthy according to the ads.
